After my family and I found a nice spot to enjoy the national day celebrations and shows (we were late so we had to sit in the very back), I looked around and saw families from all over the world gathered together in this one country, in this one moment of celebration, laughing together, smiling at each other, it was beautiful thing.

I couldn’t help but take a few moments to think of all the good things that have happened during this year, for all the people and things I am grateful to have in my life. So what I am grateful for? Here goes…

My family: I am grateful for my family they are everything that keeps me balanced and focused on becoming the best I can be. They stick by me no matter what, they love me no matter what, and they will always be a source of people while life gets a little crazy.

My country: I am grateful for the leaders and people who have dedicated their lives to making the UAE the country it is today. Where people can come here from all over the world and make better lives for themselves. Where we have ministers of happiness, youth, and tolerance to ensure that our values are strong and that my children and their generation have the same opportunities that I have today.

My supporters: Just before Ramadan I quit my job to pursue my passion for writing and presenting. It has been one of the most fulfilling, exciting, and sometimes scariest journey of my life. Everyone on social media who continues to support my work really act as reminders to me everyday that I am doing the right thing, it means the world to me and I will never take it for granted. from the bottom of my heart, Thank You.

My best friend: My queen, my rock, the source of everything good that has happened in my life. I thank Allah everyday from bringing you into my life. I say it every time, only good things happened when you came into my life. You have been my biggest source of support since day one and I wouldn’t be half the man I am today without you. Thank you for believing in my even when I didn’t believe in myself, I will love you always.

2016 has been a tough year for a lot of us, with even tougher news that we are all still trying to digest. What I realize is that one thing we need to get through it and come out stronger, hope. To be hopeful you just need to take a look around you, take a look at the people and things you love, they are worth fighting for to your last breath, and if you have something worth fighting for you will always have hope.
